What can a recipe be used for?

Each recipe has its own 'nutritional value'

And every recipe contains several suggestions for its use.

Serving Suggestions

While I was writing these books, I realised there were several routines that came up again and again. Rather than repeat myself at the start of every book, I decided to collect these recipes into a small book of their own.

The eBook version is available free to everyone and is referenced throughout the series, so is a vital companion in the ToonBoom Kaboom cookbook.

The recipes covered are:

  • Auto Auto Patches

  • Function Assists

  • Colour Selectin'

  • Multi Point Spheres

  • Z Depth Sandwiches

  • Semi Rigged Clean Up

  • Publish Custom Settings

The Books

Lines are to drawing, what pasta is to Italian cooking.

Animating lines effectively can make a dramatic difference in the quality and quantity of the animation you produce.

Even if your production’s characters have very little line work, you will still need to control the ones that make their presence known.

I’ve poured all my knowledge into the Line chapters, making line drawing and line animating as much of a cinch as humanly possible!

The recipes covered are:

  • Custom Pencil Texture

  • Custom Brush Texture

  • Line Boil - Drawings Shuffle

  • Line Boil - Auto

  • Pencil Line Boil - Auto boil

  • Pencil Line Boil - Fidget joystick

  • Line Boil - Turbulence

  • Pencil Line with Reveal slider

  • Line with Cut Slider

  • Line Hider - Hidden Bladders

  • Line Hider - Cut Bladders

Most characters that you create and animate will be made from living organic matter.

Flesh bends and stretches in numerous, complex ways, and when it’s represented incorrectly, you notice.

Flesh doesn’t have to be a chore to rig or animate however, and my bodily based recipes make the complicated processes easier and faster so you get professional grade results with less effort and quickly too.

The recipes covered are in two separate volumes:

Flesh a (350 pages)

  • Semi Automatic Hands

  • Simple Constraint Limbs

  • Simple Stitched Shoulders

  • Simple Stitched Hands

  • Epic Constraint Eyes

  • Double Deformers

Flesh

Flesh b (650 pages)

  • Epic Constraint Limbs

  • Epic Constraint Torso

  • Epic Constraint Torso Turner

Animating cloth or things with cloth-like attributes such as hair can be a daunting task if the puppet has been rigged without much consideration, requiring animators to really dig in there and move things around extensively which takes large amounts of time, and after all that may only produce passable results.

Rig Cloth correctly however, and you create a situation where results are not only surprisingly fast to produce, but look so much better than if you were to just ‘leave it to the animator’

Where are the other books?

Like Flesh, Cloth can also look very stiff and cardboard-like if handled improperly.

Cloth should be an extension of the fluid poetic motions of the character, but this can be tricky to pull off- particularly when there are tight deadlines to manage.

Here will be a set of sensible recipes to take the edge off complicated cloth based problems so your characters flow as well as they can do, without having to take too a long time to animate it.

The recipes that will be covered are:

  • Quik Waves

  • Auto Muscle

  • Slide-a-Cuff

  • Master Controlled Drapes

  • Constrained Cloth Lines

  • Function Stitched Fabric
